Duo Vert wins Concours International de Musique de Chambre de Lyon

The Duo Vert with bass-baritone Jeeyoung Lim and pianist Cole Knutson has won the Concours International de Musique de Chambre de Lyon 2025. The six-member jury was impressed by the artistic quality of the voice and piano duo and awarded them first prize worth 8,000 euros.

Jeeyoung Lim, a native of South Korea, studied at the Eisler from 2017 to 2022, first in the master's programme and then in the Konzertexamen, and was taught by Prof. Thomas Quasthoff, Prof. Scot Weir and Prof. Wolfram Rieger. Cole Knutson comes from Canada and has been a master's student in the Lied Interpretation for Pianists programme with Prof. Rieger since 2023.

The duo's musical collaboration began in 2023 at the Lied Academy in Heidelberg and deepened at the Orsay-Royaumont Academy. They are now coached by Prof. Rieger at the Eisler Centre for Chamber Music. Driven by their shared passion for Lied, the two musicians, who come from different parts of the world, build a bridge between continents and cultures.

The internationally renowned chamber music competition in Lyon, France, has been held annually in alternating categories since 2004 - this year in the voice and piano category.
